Week 3 NFL Results

(Have yourself a game boys. The Falcons stunned the Saints 27-24 in OT. AP Photo/Patrick Semansky)

This week faired much better than the last and it seems as though I might finally be getting the hang of what's happening this season. And, with a touch more luck, I should be able to post winning weeks like this one as a minimum from week to week.

Head To Head Picks Week 3: 11-5
Total H2H Picks: 29-19 (60%)

Survivor Pick Week 3: 1-0
Total Survivor Pick: 3-0 (100%)

Week 3 Total: +29.83
Season Total: -8.04

With a solid Week 3 in the books I have that profit line firmly in my sights. This week provides us with a perfect example of how my system should work. I only went 8-8 against the spread but I still profited 30 bucks betting with $5 units. This is because my 'multi-unit' picks went 6-2.

I'm back in it!

Next week's tips will be here later in the week.

Week 3 NFL Tips

(He's baaacckk. Vick will keep his starting role this week against the Jags. AP Photo/Paul Sancya)

Time to really start dominating the books! Here are my tips for Week3...

Head To Head Picks

- Titans (W) @ Giants
- Bengals (W) @ Panthers
- Steelers (W) @ Buccaneers
- Bills @ Patriots (W)
- Browns @ Ravens (W)
- 49ers (W) @ Chiefs
- Cowboys (W) @ Texans
- Lions @ Vikings (W)
- Falcons (W) @ Saints
- Redskins (W) @ Rams
- Colts (W) @ Broncos
- Raiders @ Cardinals (W)
- Chargers (W) @ Seahawks
- Jets @ Dolphins (W)
- Packers (W) @ Bears

Plenty of road warriors this week.

This week's Survivor Pick is the Ravens. So far I've been successful with the Titans and the Packers but I can't use them again this season for the survivor pick.

Against the Spread Picks (The team with the bracketed line is who I like to cover the spread).

5U
  • Bills @ Patriots (-14)
- Let's face it: the Bills are just terrible this season and, much like their thrashing at the hands of the Packers last week (34-7), the same should happen again on Sunday. With Brady looking to bounce back with an exclamation mark this week, it will be a big score for the Pats. Pats win huuuge.
  • Eagles (-3) @ Jaguars
- I love this match up for the Eagles. Reid has made a good decision to keep the in-form Vick at QB and the team will thrive in J'ville this weekend. They are usually good in week 2 of road-trips over the years and the Jags have travelled back across the country after last week's loss to the Chargers. Now they have to face a team that looks ready to capitilise on numerous Jaguar turnovers.

4U
  • Titans (+3) @ Giants
- The Giants were burned last week by the Colts rushing game. Now look who comes into town: Chris Johnson and Vince Young. Good luck stopping this tandem G men. I think Young bounces back after last week's poor showing and the Titans move to 2-1 in a tight one.

3U
  • Browns @ Ravens (-10.5)
- This is what I like to call a 'get-right' game. The Ravens will be awfully angry after last week's performance. Those poor Browns. Close losses to average teams in the past couple of weeks will not help as they travel to the house of pain for the Raven's home opener.
  • Cowboys (+3) @ Texans
- I don't know why but this just looks like such a good spread to me. Either the Cowboys lose a close one and fall to 0-3 or they pull their finger out this week and upset everyone's new favourite team, the Texans. More emphasis on the running game this week will help Romo and co find the W.
  • Falcons (+4) @ Saints
- A short rest, a long flight back from the West and no Reggie Bush makes this Falcons line ripe for the picking against the Saints this week. Ryan plays well indoors and Turner looked better last week against the Cards. The Saints havn't hit their straps yet and this game smells like an upset to me. Falcons to do the business and exert themselves as a real threat in the NFC South. Did someone say statement game?
  • Colts (-5.5) @ Broncos
- No Moreno for the Broncos is huge as their running game relies heavily on him and that's how they can beat the Colts. No Champ Bailey at corner is even bigger. Look for Manning, Wayne, Gonzalez, Garcon, Clark (this list of weapons goes on forever) to have huge games for the Colts through the air. Should be high-scoring and fun to watch.

2U
  • Bengals (-3) @ Panthers
1U
  • Steelers (-2.5) @ Buccaneers
  • 49ers (-2.5) @ Chiefs
  • Lions (+11.5) @ Vikings
  • Redskins (-3.5) @ Rams
  • Raiders @ Cardinals (-4.5)
  • Jets @ Dolphins (-1.5)
  • Packers (-3) @ Bears
0.5U
  • Chargers @ Seahawks (+5.5)

NFL Week 2 Results

(Are the Bears for real? Cutler shone during their win over the Cowboys 27-20. AP Photo/Tim Sharp)

Bad times. Not a good week for me at all. In saying this, had the Patriots got up, I would have netted a positive result. Unfortunately though, I finished well down. So close in many tips but we have to remember that the first 2 weeks of the NFL are the hardest to predict so there's no reason why I can't bounce back.

Head to Head Picks Wk 2: 9-7
Total H2H Picks: 18-14 (56%)

Survivor Pick Wk 2: 1-0
Total Survivor Pick: 2-0 (100%)

Picks Against the Spread Wk 2: 6-9-1 (win-loss-push)
Total Picks ATS: 14-15-3 (48%)

Ultimately, it's been a bit of a tough start. I'm hoping to get my percentages up for H2H to around 60-65% , while ATS would want to read anywhere in the 52-57% region.

5U

- Cardinals 7 @ Falcons 41 (+22.75)
- Patriots 14 @ Jets 28 (-25)

4U

- Steelers 19 @ Titans 11 (-20)

3U

- Doplhins 14 @ Vikings 10 (+13.65)
- Eagles 35 @ Lions 32 (-15)
- Bills 7 @ Packers 34 (+13.65)
- Rams 14 @ Raiders 16 (-15)

2U

- Jaguars 13 @ Chargers 38 (-10)

1U

- Ravens 10 @ Bengals 15 (+4.55)
- Chiefs 16 @ Browns 14 (-5)
- Bears 27 @ Cowboys 20 (-5)
- Bucs 20 @ Panthers 7 (-5)
- Texans 30 @ Redskins 27 (Push)
- Giants 14 @ Colts 38 (-5)
- Saints 25 @ 49ers 22 (+4.55)

0.5U

- Seahawks 14 @ Broncos 31 (+2.85)

Week 2 Total: -43
Season Total: -37.87

So, with a bad Week 2, I've slipped down to -$37.87 for the season betting with units of $5 each. So far the 5 Unit games have killed me, as I've gone 1-3 thus far.

Better times ahead.

Stay tuned for next week's picks.

NFL Week 2 Tips

(Brady was great last week and he'll be great this week against the Jets. Photo: AP Photo/Townson)

It's that time again. Tip time!

Head to Head Picks:
  • Steelers @ Titans (W)
  • Dolphins @ Vikings (W)
  • Cardinals @ Falcons (W)
  • Ravens @ Bengals (W)
  • Chiefs @ Browns (W)
  • Bears @ Cowboys (W)
  • Eagles (W) @ Lions
  • Bills @ Packers (W)
  • Buccaneers @ Panthers (W)
  • Seahawks @ Broncos (W)
  • Rams @ Raiders (W)
  • Texans @ Redskins (W)
  • Patriots (W) @ Jets
  • Jaguars @ Chargers (W)
  • Giants @ Colts (W)
  • Saints (W) @ 49ers

Survivor Pick for the week is the Packers. Looking to get the streak to 2 after last week's correct tip.

ATS Tips: (Against the Spread Tips) The team with the bracketed line is who I like to cover the spread.

5 Units
  • Cardinals @ Falcons (-6.5)
- I can just see the Falcons tearing through the Cardinals in their home opener. They'll be anxious to score early and often and will blow the Cards away. Note that the Cards are on the road for the 2nd straight week. The Cards just aren't that good this year.
  • Patriots (-2.5) @ Jets
- Tom Brady vs Mark Sanchez? I know who I'm taking every time. While Moss will get shut down by Revis, Brady just has too many other weapons at his disposal to nullify the Jets tough D. Plus, he hates the Jets. Pats by a decent amount here to cover the spread.

4 Units
  • Steelers @ Titans (-5)
- Although the steelers were strong in D last week, I can't see them completely shutting down Johnson and the scrambling Vince Young for the whole game in this one. And, this coupled with Dixon's fragility on the road for the Steelers will lead to a strong Titans victory.

3 Units
  • Dolphins (+5.5) @ Vikings
  • Eagles (-4.5) @ Lions
  • Bills @ Packers (-13)
  • Rams @ Raiders (-3.5)

2 Units
  • Jaguars (+8) @ Chargers

1 Unit
  • Ravens @ Bengals (+1.5)
  • Chiefs @ Browns (-1.5)
  • Bears @ Cowboys (-8.5)
  • Buccaneers @ Panthers (-3.5)
  • Texans @ Redskins (+3)
  • Giants (+5.5) @ Colts
  • Saints @ 49ers (+4.5)

0.5 Units
  • Seahwaks @ Broncos (-3.5)

Tough week but I like my heavier tips up the top this time round much more than last week. Any questions just hit me up at cam_crawford@msn.com

Good luck!

NFL Week 1 Results

(Arian Foster tore the colts apart with 3 TDs. Photo: AP Photo/Dave Einsel)

Well, what a week of football. Definitely learnt a bit about a few teams...

My results ended up being a bit below what I wanted, although i did profit in the end and you can never complain when that happens.

Head to Head Picks: 9-7 (56.25%).

Lock In Pick: 1-0 (100%)

Tips Against The Spread (reading win-loss-push): 8-6-2 (57.14%)

5U

- 49ers 9 - Seahawks 31 (-25)

- Chargers 14- Chiefs 21 (-25)

4U

- Dolphins 15 - Bills 10 (+17.40)

3U

- Bengals 24 - Patriots 38 (+13.65)

- Lions 14 - Bears 19 (+13.65)

- Cardinals 17 - Rams 13 (Push)

- Packers 27 - Eagles 20 (+14.25)

2U

- Browns 14 - Buccaneers 17 (Push)

1U

- Vikings 9 - Saints 14 (+4.35)

- Colts 24 - Texans 34 (-5)

- Broncos 17 - Jaguars 24 (-5)

- Falcons 9 - Steelers 15 (-5)

- Panthers 18 - Giants 31 (-5)

- Cowboys 7 - Redskins 13 (+4.55)

- Ravens 10 - Jets 9 (+4.55)

0.5 U

- Raiders 13 - Titans 38 (+2.73)

Week 1 Total: +5.13

Grand Total: +5.13

On the surface, my tipping ATS looks pretty satisfying although my two 5-unit games both lost! Yeh, the Chargers and 49ers let me down. So that brought me down a bit.

In the end I tallied a profit of $5.13 for the week, betting ATS with each unit representing $5. So, it's a start i suppose. Hopefully next week brings a bit more joy.

Thoughts:

Nothing too glaring to take out of this week apart from the Texans. They looked great and I'm now respecting their hype a bit more. The Jets just couldn't move the ball while the Falcons offence also looked sleepy (at least they were on the road and will bounce back next week againts the Cards). How about those 49ers? What happened? Looks like the NFC West won't be a shoe-in for them after all. Overall, I underestimated the significance of home field advantage a bit and must take that into account.

I'll hit up next week's tips on Thursday (US Time). Feeling good about Week 2 already!

Intro

(Photo: sportsnickel.com)

Hi everyone,

for all of you NFL fans out there who are looking to make some money on the NFL, I'm here to help.

I'll be blogging my thoughts and tips each week for you guys to follow/support/criticise along the way. Each week i'll be jotting down my head to head picks (who will win the game) along with my tips against the spread (ATS or line betting). Mainly, this is for my own benefit so I can record how much money I win this year. But, why not share the love and let any of you followers in on my expertise?

For my ATS tips, I will be spreading 35.5 units each week across all the week's fixtures. The higher the unit, the stronger I feel about my tip and the more money I will be investing upon that game. This year, I am assigning $5 for each unit. That is, 1 unit = $5.

All this will show you how I'm going personally along the way with my own betting.

Just a quick couple of thoughts on Superbowl predictions for this year: I love the Ravens and the Packers to win the AFC and NFC respectively and I'm going to go with the Ravens for the Superbowl win. Just too much talent on offence and as always, so solid in D.

Good luck and enjoy the 2010 NFL season!
